Sweet Amber Fire Bacon Onion Jam

Sweet Amber Fire Bacon Onion Jam

My Sweet Amber Fire Bacon Onion Jam is a sweet and savory compliment to just about anything.  This recipe makes one 8 oz. jar, but you can certainly upsize it to any amount.

Ingredients:
1/2 lb of bacon, chopped
1 onion, finely chopped
1 clove of minced garlic
1/4 cup of maple syrup
1/4 cup of apple cider vinegar
1 heaping TBSP of Nate's Smokehouse BBQ Blends Sweet Amber Fire

Directions:

  • Add bacon to skillet and cook until it is brown and crispy.

  • Remove bacon to a paper towel lined plate, but leave about 1 1/2 TBSP of bacon grease in the pan.
  • Add onions to pan and cook on low to medium until they are caramelized (about 15-20 minutes).  Do not overcook them.

  • After the onions have caramelized, add the garlic, maple syrup, apple cider vinegar, Sweet Amber Fire, and bacon back into the pan.  Let it reduce on medium heat for about 30 minutes or until it is to your preferred consistency.

  • Once it is reduced down, you can put it in a jar or other airtight container.  This particular recipe makes about 8 oz.  It should last a little over a week in the fridge.

This bacon onion jam can be used on just about anything - burgers, grilled cheese, roasted veggies.  Heck, it can even be spread on toast!  I put mine on my steak.
